Chair transformation // 2019

consultants: Bene Tamás, Máté Tamás

The transformation of the chair was an exploration of form and structure through hands-on experimentation. It all started with choosing an old chair and carefully examining it, piece by piece. Part of this process involved drawing it from different angles, using a variety of techniques to really understand its details. Once the chair was taken apart, I could play around with its parts, trying out different compositions until I landed on this final structure.

The idea behind the project was to see what happens when you analyze and rearrange a chair’s forms. Through this process of overthinking and reconfiguring, the chair started losing its original function—which I actually liked. I wasn’t interested in turning it into another chair but into something entirely new—something that exists somewhere between functional and dysfunctional. I wanted its forms to speak for themselves, creating a unique character that went beyond practicality.
